THE AZUL STUDIO: A 420 sq ft beach studio renovation reveal

Located in the crystal clear waters of the Florida Panhandle is the Azul Studio: a cozy little studio

perfect for two.

Previously decorated with bright colors and dark furniture, our goal for this space was to create a brighter, calmer atmosphere that reflected the feel of a relaxing coastal getaway.

Being that the space was only 420 sq ft,

we decided to go with a neutral palette of whites and creams, since those

colors have the ability of making small spaces feel bigger:

Touches of navy in honor of the studio's name "The Azul Studio" were important as well so

we were inspired to incorporate it in items like pillows and blankets throughout.

There was a lot going on in the "Before".

Bright shades of decor and too-big-for-the-space furniture

made the room feel crowded and smaller than it really was

So the carpets were torn, new floors were installed, and that, in conjunction with floor-to-ceiling

curtains + ceiling beams made what seemed to be a small room feel bigger & brighter.

Since lounge space and comfort were a large priority for this renovation, we decided to forego the traditional table for two scenario and use a console that doubled as a dining area for two instead

This allowed living area to serve two purposes in one, all while allowing a larger, more comfortable

sofa to be installed.

Two seagrass ottomans that tucked away under the table when not in use helped

us come up with a small space chair solution

and finding a coordinating console table to the living room table

helped both areas feel as though they were one, even though they were multi-functional

For the kitchenette, our main focus was to free up counter space and provide more storage.

Simple solutions like floating shelves and inner cabinet door storage allowed more

space to be available for simple meal prep and coffee making.

For the bedroom area, navy mud cloth pillows brought a little bit of the Azul in "The Azul Studio" in

And wall mounted lights allowed nightstand area to remain cleared out

and available to place any item one may need to have at hand during one's stay

Simple changes to the bathroom like a new mirror, a new light and new hardware

instantly updated the space

And decor reflective of the area brought a bit of the outdoor coastal vibes in

Well, that it is! Overall, we were so excited to be able to renovate another little airbnb property on the coast, provide more functionality within a small space & get this space completely

ready for guests to stay!
